Letter to younger me

The letter would first address that the letter is from the future me. It would tell me that the troubles it would have and how to fix it. Such as how to study on the 7th grade exam, or that you should of put a lot more sunblock on when you go to the beach. But more importantly how to get through tough times, and how to deal with the struggles the the younger me will soon face.

Also the letter would say what to do if you do get in a bad situation, and how to handle it. Maybe that the younger me should stop other people form doing bad things, such as bullying, littering, or copying homework. It would be a good idea but i really wouldn't do it because I like the way my life has and is turning out, I have nothing to complain about.

Writing Center

When I went to the writing center it was a great experience, because it helped me understand my weak points in the paper. The paper that I got help for was my Literary Analysis, that paper was by far the most difficult for me to write because I didn't know what to write about, but when I went to the writing center the person that helped me gave good feed-back on how to lengthen my paper which was the main problem.

I read my paper to the person, and the helper was saying stuff like how I needed to use the information I already have and expand on it, and not find now information. That was really helpful to me because it gave me an idea of how to make my paper better than before. It was like giving me a push in the right direction.

I went to the STA (Saint Thomas Aquinas), Riverside game. It was very interesting to me because i was watching my opponent play. It is a very different point of view because of the hight of the stands, and I now what I am looking for in the game.

The main things I picked up on is that 99 is their best player, he plays nose guard. Also 4 is a playmaker on defense, but he doesn't like to get hit so he tackles at the ankles. On offense the are a lot  like us in that the run the wing t and they run a lot of the same plays like buck, G, Iso, and counter. Their passing game is not the best in the world but they can hit the deep ball every once in a while.

Prompt

What is your favorite part of reading LOTF

My foveate part of reading this book is that it is interesting to me. Most of the books we have read in the past years haven't been very interesting because they are usually slow paced. Also it has more action and struggle in the book.

Another reason why I like this book is because of the survival aspect of it. Not many times I can say I read a survival book in english class. That aspect brings another level of difficulty for the characters which makes the story more interesting.

The football team has gone 10-0 for the first time in school history, we are also district champs, also first time in school history. Now we are number one seed in the state in our division, That means we get a bye week. Which means we don't play any body.

I think we are going to the state championship because the seniors are good leaders, and we are better  the better team. Hopefully when i am senior I will be able to do what the seniors did and will do.

Plane crash on an island

First what we would have to do is take a count of how many people we have. 16 freshman, and 16 first graders. Then we have to see what type of tools we have, then we have to recon the area to see if we could possibly better our situation. Because the plane crashed on or very near the island we would have to get what ever supplies we could from the plane. It would probably have a knife some where so we would need to get that. next we would have to set up a system of control who would be the leader and so on and so forth. Once we would have that in place we would divid and concur. 3 people need to take care of the first graders 2 people needed to take care of the shelter 2 need to take care of water 2 people need to take care of fire. 5 people need to take care of  hunting, fishing and security ,Then we need to 2 people on look because we got shot down by an enemy plane and i don't want them to come back. Personally i would rather take a group of three to four people, because the group start arguing and the system would start to fail people would get hurt they would give up and won't do anything make the people who want to live work that much harder to keep every body alive. Personally I don't think our class would last long because panic would set in and they would start running around like chicken with their head missing and they would get hurt and get an infection.

The retreat friday was really cool because we got to go kayaking, even though it was only to pick up trash, it was still fun. Since i had experience kayaking before, a couple of other and I had kayaks. The rest of my group where got in smaller groups of two or three and they went in canoes.

The rest of the time we where clearing out some trails and helping remove invasive species from the park. Most of the time we where working, but we got a long break at lunch. Lastly we learned about the leave no trace organization. Which was nice because it informed the public(us) on how to protect the environment
.

Reading response

The story I read was called the sniper, it was very interesting because it was a duel between the best of the best. The story developed very well after the cigerrette scene. It was  intersting how the reader was able to have the mind set of the sniper.

Also when the enemmies truck pulled up it was a nice off set from the battle of the snipers.
The way the author was able to capture the moment with is words was wonderful. In the scene where he is playing dead was a genius idea.

Short story plot

My story is about a rookie Formula-1racer. The beginning of the story is about he starts racing as a child and how he as raw talent but no self-disipline. He meets a racing legend how wants to help him but the racer is reluctant. The legend is like Micky in the movie Rocky. He is someone with a lot of experience, And he wants to pass it on.

Then he works his way to the pros with the crew chief, he doesn't have the success he always had so he blames the crew chief. The racer after he fires his crew chief he gets in a accident in the race he has broken bones and third degree burns and is bed redden for a month. he comes back with his crew chief and he wins the championship against his rivals how caused the accident.

Short Stories

All of the short stories we have read have had some element of weirdness to them. Whether it be a man with wings, handicaps, or something weird at an A&P store. What ever happened the author could always explain in great detail. If it was one minute of pure detail or one day. They could always explian what happened and the read understand most of it.

On the other hand most of the stories we have been reading in class have been boring, I know that they are different genres but they don't capture my attention like I thought they would. The only thing short story that was somewhat interesting was the  Harrison story which was way to weird to begin with.

character

My character is a Formula-1 race-car driver, he drives a ferrari with open wheels, sponsored by Apple Products. He has the best racer of all time as his crew chief, he won 4 championships. The driver is a rookie with raw talent but is self-isf, indiscipline, and stupid. Only reason why I say that because has been in the hospital more times in one year than most people in their lives.

The Story starts out by the rookie (haven't thought of a name) Winning a race then going in to a low point. The crew chief is hard on him because he knows that he can be the best driver in the world because he can feel the cars movements and he can see his move before he makes it. He can make other drivers flint without doing anything because they know he is a threat to the championship. Also there is another driver that is the best that is a jerk, and because of that the are the rivals that would die to beat the other.

Short Story

Harrison Bergeron was by far the weirdest story I have ever read. The concept of everyone has to be at or below average at everything was very interesting, yet makes you think about all of the what ifs'. Whether it be a zombie attack, economic collapse, to government break down. You never know when something like that could happen, that is why you always have to be prepared.

I not saying buy tons of food, and weapons for your whole block, but what I am saying is that it never hurts. Your parents always said when you were a little kid better to be safe the sorry. So I think that is the point that the story is trying to push across. Don't get me wrong it is a really funny story, but it is better to be safe and sorry.

Ebook

For the cover of the Ebook Think the title should be We Are Number 4, because we are block four, and it can interpreted in different ways. I also read Nathan's post, but instead of collages we should put  small picture of what our literacy narratives are about. So people can choose what they want and not have one person do the cover so everybody can pitch in.

The thing i am most concerned with is that someone not understanding my essay and miss interpret what I am trying to mean. I tried hard to get my points clear but interesting but you always have that second thought, or the idea in the back of your head the you didn't do well.

reading response

The best thing I read this week is the beginning of Insurgent. Even though I only read a little bit, I like how it comes immediately of of the first book. So you know what is going on to a certain point. Like how she had to kill her friend will, and how her parents died. The first part is how she remembers kill her friend.

Then They are getting of the train which the author almost goes into to much detail, because she stays on that subject for a long time. Which to other people is probably a good thing but for me not so much, because I like the details, but some times you have to think when is it time to say the enough of the small details that don't always help with the story.

Dialogue

THE THEFT

"Put your weapons down," shouts the cop. The stand off between an officer on one heavily armed robber. All of a sudden a sound sorda like a chain saw came out of no where. "Over my dead body"screamed the robber.

"Put the weapons down and I won't shoot you..."

"Ok then I'll shoot you," the police car next to the officer goes up in flames. A news chopper is on the scene.
"Put the guns down or I will kill you!" More gun shots are heard.

"You don't have the guts to do it!"

"Oh yeah,"he gets up for cover walks wit a fully auto-mattic gun, and shoots. The same happen with the robber, it is a turkey shoot, Spray and pray. Spray bullets, and pray that it hits the target. The robber gives the officer one last smirk, and falls. The Officer give a sigh of relief, but he feel multiple bee stings. He has been shot 5 times, 2 in the lungs, 3 in the leg, and one in the heart. He falls to his knees, he think of his wife, and three kids. With one last breathe he says"I love you all".

literacy narrative

So my  Literacy Narrative is on My Dyslexia, and how that shaped me as a reader and writer. The main thing that I am having rough time with is giving vivid details. i am more like a strait up give it to you blunt kinda writer i don't really like putting all of the fru-fru on the writing. I don't like all of the unnecessary details that unusually happen when I try to put vividness in it. That has hurt my grade int he past so I put what the reader needs to know and thats it.

I know that makes for a boring story but I got the information out to the reader and that is what is important. It is like closes as a consumer I don't need $500 pair of jean or a $100 Pair of sunglasses. All I need are a pair of shorts and $3 sunglasses, I'm am not saying those things aren't nice, but it is unnecessary.

Response

I read an article in the paper about how product say they will relieve soreness for working out, but they don't. What many companies do is that the put some fruit on the label and that makes it healthy. some people might believe it but, if you really look at the fine print you will see that most of the stuff doesn't have anything to do with relieving sore muscles. Also a very small amount of product have to do with relieving sore muscles.

You as a consumer should always know what your buying, because i could stick a box a of french fries in to a box with a potato on the label and say that it is healthy. While if you read the fine print, you would clearly see that it was fried in peanut oil and has a brunch of MSG and other bad stuff.

Reading Response

I am reading, well read Through My Eyes by Tim Tebow. The main point in the book is that with hard work and faith, you can do anything. Not to mention he is a natural athlete, and can bench press a small car.(not really but he is real strong) Every time he stepped on the field the atmosphere changed. Every body wanted to be on his team, if not that your probably going to lose.

His career started out pretty good but, like most stories the main character goes through hard ships, other wise it wouldn't be interesting. Through collage he was a star winning the Heisman trophy, and 2 national championships. He is still a very good player, and will continue to be, because of hard work and faith.

Something Worth Sharing

Probably the most interesting thing that happened to me the last couple of weeks was that i went to visit my old house. That house had a old oak tree I used to play under, and a play set that I loved. The best part was that i remember standing in the door frame looking at how tall I was, and thinking now I'm this I can do anything. Like a little kid should, he should want to be an astronaut and walk on mars and find aliens, or go to deepest parts of the ocean and look at the wide variety of fish and whale and undiscovered creators of the depth.

Also remembering that I was only three feet tall and that we all were at one time, and seeing how I grew to be who I am today, and thinking what I will be tomorrow. It is kinda mind boggling to know that I grew every second with me not being able to feel it. Every time you go to the doctor and they see how tall you are you always get bigger, at least when you're little.

What makes a person successful?

In the book I am reading Through My Eyes by Tim Tedow, the reason why I think he is so successful is that he works hard and he is competitive. Not to mention he is a very gifted athlete, naturally strong, and fast. He always wants to do better than the other guy, striving to be the best at whatever it happened to be, whether it was football, baseball, or seeing how could spit the watermelon seed the farthest. He did whatever it took to be the best, he would stay up to 12:30 in the morning and do push-ups Just to think to himself "I bet I'm am the only one working out right now".

Also he is just one of  though's people who just wants to work hard. When he was young before he played T-ball he wanted to lift weights because that what he thought everyone else was doing. Also when he was in 6th grade trying out for the football team at a local school, everyone got in a line to see who could do the most bicep curls. He got a the back of the line by the time it was his turn he had to do 65 curls to win. Guess what he did, he went to 100 then 200, by 225 he couldn't feel his arms but he kept going he finally stopped at 315 reps. He did all of that just to prove a point to the coaches, that he would do what ever it takes to help the team.

Free Post

Today I went to the D-day museum, even though it wasn't my first time there there is always something new or something you missed the last time. The museum has so much information the it would take two or three days to see every thing at just a glance. The most impressive thing for me is that most of the of the people working there or the ones that you see are WWII  vets. Which really makes me happy because they can pass down information that would never see the light of day if it wasn't for those people.

After that my family and I walked around for a little while and we found our selfs at the door of Mothers po-boys. I will have to say that was the best po-boy I have had in a long time. I had the Famous Ferdi special which had debris(pulled beef in gravy), ham, and roast beef. The ham added a nice sweet and cold flavor and the debris had almost a mushy goodness that is heaven on earth with the fresh french bread soaking up all the gravy. Last but not least the roast beef was the best I had ever had, it enhanced every flavor in the sand-which to another level, the creole mustard, to the cabbage was great with that stuff on it.

Divergent

This past summer I read the book called Divergent. I didn't like this book because the story got off to a slow start, and never really picked up for me. This was really disappointing because by the cover it looked like a really good book that I wanted to read. What I found confusing is that tris could control the tests but I couldn't tell if she was really trying, or just going along with every body else.

As I was reading the book had its peaks and valleys, but there were more valleys than peaks unfortunately. At the end was really disappointing because it was so predicable. The Most predicable part was when four and her went to try to stop the attack. Which wasn't bad but wasn't good ether. Also many of tris's friends died which was really depressing.
